The course Adapting Innovative Technology to Education had a profound impact on my understanding of educational innovation. At the start, my perspective on technology’s role in education was still evolving. However, through research and reflection, I was able to bridge my prior knowledge with new insights gained throughout the course.
One of the most significant takeaways from this experience was my deeper understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and its relationship with failure in the learning process. As part of my coursework, I created a video artifact that explores the intersectionality between UDL and failure, uncovering a nuanced connection between the two. Through this exploration, I came to recognize a linked oppression—the ways in which failure, often viewed negatively, is inherently tied to the principles of UDL and the iterative nature of learning. This realization reinforced my belief that embracing failure as part of the learning process is essential for fostering inclusive and adaptive educational experiences.
